Itinerary

Day 1 · Casablanca – Rabat – Chefchaouen

Pick-up at your hotel, riad or the airport in Casablanca. Morning stop at the Hassan II Mosque, then Rabat: the Hassan Tower, the Mohammed V Mausoleum and the white lanes of the Kasbah of the Udayas. In the afternoon the road climbs into the Rif mountains to Chefchaouen.

Day 2 · Chefchaouen – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Through the hills of the Rif to the Roman city of Volubilis, then imperial Meknes, arriving in Fes in the late afternoon.

Day 3 · Fes

Guided tour of Fes el-Bali with a local guide: the Bou Inania madrasa, the Karaouine, the souks of the craftsmen and the famous Chouara tanneries. Free afternoon in your riad.

Day 4 · Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga

Leave Fes through Ifrane and the cedar forest of Azrou, home of Barbary macaques, cross the Middle Atlas to Midelt and descend the Ziz Valley and its palm groves. In the late afternoon you ride a camel into Erg Chebbi for the sunset and your night in the desert camp.

Day 5 · Merzouga – Rissani – Todra – Dades

Sunrise over the dunes and breakfast. West through Rissani and Tinejdad to the Todra Gorge, whose walls rise up to 300 m, and on to the Dades Valley.

Day 6 · Dades – Ouarzazate – Aït Ben Haddou

Through the Valley of Roses and the palm grove of Skoura to Ouarzazate, then to Aït Ben Haddou to see the ksar at sunset.

Day 7 · Aït Ben Haddou – Marrakech

Morning visit of Aït Ben Haddou, then over the Tizi n'Tichka pass to Marrakech, arriving in the afternoon.
