Itinerary

Day 1 · Rabat – Volubilis – Meknes – Fes

Pick-up at your hotel, riad or the airport in Rabat. Inland to the Roman ruins of Volubilis and their mosaics, the holy town of Moulay Idriss seen from the road and imperial Meknes, before arriving in Fes.

Night: Riad in Fes

Day 2 · Fes – Ifrane – Midelt – Merzouga

Leave Fes through Ifrane and the cedar forest of Azrou, home of Barbary macaques, cross the Middle Atlas to Midelt and descend the Ziz Valley and its palm groves. In the late afternoon you ride a camel into Erg Chebbi for the sunset and your night in the desert camp.

Day 3 · Merzouga – Rissani – Todra – Dades

Sunrise over the dunes and breakfast. West through Rissani and Tinejdad to the Todra Gorge, whose walls rise up to 300 m, and on to the Dades Valley.

Day 4 · Dades – Ouarzazate – Aït Ben Haddou

Through the Valley of Roses and the palm grove of Skoura to Ouarzazate, then to Aït Ben Haddou to see the ksar at sunset.

Day 5 · Aït Ben Haddou – Marrakech
